Fund Operations Analyst, In-Office Position
Job Summary
Our client a renowned investment firm is seeking a detailed-oriented and highly adaptable professional to join their Fund Operations team. Our client offers a collaborative environment where you can challenge your analytical skills and directly contribute to the efficiency of the financial operations. This role will not be suitable for those pursuing a CPA or CFA designation due to the nature of the work. Those with interest in analysis and mathematical calculations will do best in this position. This is an in-office position located in the heart of downtown Calgary.
Our client a renowned investment firm is seeking an Analyst to join their fund group. As a key member of the fund operations team the successful candidate will have an established track record in basic accounting analysis or finance alongside strong technical proficiency. This role involves specialized processes many of the core responsibilities will be new to most applicants. We are seeking an agile learner who is flexible with taking on mastering and adjusting to new tasks assigned by management.
Calculations & Compliance: Calculate distributions and redemptions in strict accordance with the Offering Memorandum (OM) and Limited Partnership Agreement (LPA).
Reconciliations: Reconcile data with trust companies against internal accounting books investigating and analyzing any variances.
Data Integrity: Maintain the absolute correctness and completeness of all operational data and supporting documentation.
Process Improvement: Assist in the continuous enhancement of operating policies and procedures.
Reporting & Compliance Support: Assist with year-end financial statement audits tax slip issuance and due diligence reporting.
Special Projects: Support the manager and broader team with ad-hoc projects and assignments as required.
University degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
3 years of working experience in the finance industry. Experience in a back-office setting of a dealer brokerage firm or a distributing alternative investment fund is highly preferred however not required.
Advanced user of MS Excel; technical Excel proficiency is a core requirement for this role and will be formally tested during the qualification and interview process.
A proven ability to quickly learn new systems grasp unfamiliar financial concepts and pivot as operational needs change.
High attention to detail with a knack for spotting data discrepancies and solving problems.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external trust companies.
