Role Overview
The Government of Alberta is seeking an Intermediate Financial Analyst to support the Citizen Experience Evolution Branch in managing financial operations for modernization initiatives involving Land Titles Motor Vehicles and Registry Systems.
The successful candidate will support budgeting forecasting contract management financial reporting project auditing and cost analysis while ensuring compliance with Government financial policies and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare monthly financial forecasts and budget updates.
Validate process and track vendor invoices.
Prepare monthly accrual entries.
Produce contract spend reports and variance analysis.
Support governance and financial reporting.
Create and manage Purchase Orders (POs).
Manage Service Entry Sheets (SES) using SAP Ariba / 1GX.
Maintain financial and contract documentation.
Support internal and external audits.
Develop financial models and perform cost analysis.
Identify financial trends risks and opportunities.
Provide recommendations to leadership based on financial analysis.
Requirements
Mandatory Requirements
Relevant post-secondary education in Accounting Finance Business Administration or related field.
3 years of advanced Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables VLOOKUP formulas data analysis).
3 years managing project budgets and forecasts.
3 years validating vendor invoices and processing payments.
3 years applying accounting principles and Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards (or equivalent).
3 years using SAP and Ariba.
3 years working with accounting systems financial controls and budget management.
3 years maintaining financial records with high accuracy.
Preferred Skills
Government procurement and contract management.
Contract drafting and administration.
Process documentation and process improvement.
Financial reporting and variance analysis.
Audit and compliance support.
IT financial processes.
Financial and risk assessment.

Work Arrangement
Primarily Remote
Occasional travel to Edmonton (up to four times per year if required)
Candidate must provide their own Windows/Mac computer compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (Windows preferred).
