Finance Analyst II, Canada Outbound Finance

Global Transportation Services sits at the center of Amazons Outbound Transportation Supply Chain. We collaborate across Amazon internal Last Mile and Middle Mile teams as well as with our external delivery partners to ensure on time delivery and fast delivery speed at the right cost structure. Our Finance team works closely with Program Managers Tech and Product Managers to track performance reporting and support analysis for optimization of capacity planning supply chain design and transportation execution to deliver for our customers.

Global Transportation Services seeks a Finance Analyst who is a creative problem solver to support our growth while gaining excellent Operations Finance experience. This role will work closely with cross-functional business and finance leaders across multiple Transportation organizations and other internal Amazon businesses allowing for learning across the company and visibility into the exciting work going on in Operations. Our teams oversee large scopes providing for a rich career growth environment.

This role partners closely with a broad range of global finance and business leaders across Canada transportation carrier teams. The role also has stakeholders in country leaders and capacity planning teams. This role works with research scientists technical product managers and software developers. This role designs develops and maintains performance measurements and reports on strategic input drivers to continuously improve the economics of the business.

Key job responsibilities
- Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models interpret data draw conclusions and make recommendations that deliver results drive improvements and influence leaders throughout Amazon. These decisions can have global impact.
- Delivers weekly/monthly financial close. Uses financial systems and advanced MS Excel functions to work with large data sets. Outputs plans forecasts budgets and consolidations.
- Creates effective business partnerships manages competing priorities and provides guidance based on data analysis during unexpected events
- Uses active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear concise and unambiguous manner. Adjusts style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly.
- Collects and analyzes quantitative data to develop relevant reports that drive cost reductions.
- Identifies opportunities to resolve defects proactively. Improves scales or simplifies finance tools across teams and organizations.
- Contributes to work life harmony by being a positive collaborative and effective influencer to new team members as an indicator of operations excellence.


- 3 years of tax finance or a related analytical field experience
- 3 years of dissecting financial data and identifying patterns that support business strategy experience
- 3 years of contributing to cross-functional initiatives that drive financial performance and strategy experience
- Bachelors degree in finance accounting business economics or a related analytical field (e.g. engineering math computer science)

- 3 years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL MS Access Essbase Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle SAP Lawson JD Edwards)
- MBA or CPA

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company Amazons package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
