Please Note: this is a temporary role for up to 18 months. Internally this role is referred to as Operations Financial Advisor.
What You Will Do:
Prepare and analyze monthly operating and project budget variances for review and submission.
Develop monthly and quarterly forecasts for operating and project budgets.
Compile review and analyze monthly operating cost accruals to ensure accuracy.
Set up operating projects (budgeted and unbudgeted) and partner with project managers on cost control accruals and forecasting.
Travel up to 400 km to remote facilities to provide in-person financial support to operational teams.
Deliver training to staff on financial systems processes and procedures.
Support internal and external audit requests and produce ad hoc financial reports including trend analysis.
Act as a key financial resource within the Incident Command System during emergency response activities.
Who You Are:
Related university degree and/or professional designation in a finance accounting or business management with 4 or more years of directly related experience.
Progress toward a professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) is considered an asset.
Solid understanding of the budgeting cycle; long-term financial planning and multi-year budgeting would be an asset.
Proficiency with financial management systems and applications including Advanced Excel (formulas and Pivot tables) PowerBI and SharePoint; Oracle Financials/Project Management would be an asset.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Customer-focused mindset with the ability to communicate effectively and build relationships across teams.
Outstanding communication interpersonal organizational and team skills.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP would be an asset.
Working Conditions:
This position is typically based in a Field Office (80%)
Travel required to remote field locations to (20%)
