Field Technician Minerals Trade Marine Services

• Field testing of water samples.
• Witness and observe how samples are taken and direct the vessel personnel when necessary.
• Receive inspect sort and label client samples.
• Deliver and ship samples to the laboratory.
• Observe sampling of other commodities following established protocols.
• Sort crush pulverize split and screen samples as required.
• Archive return or dispose of client samples as per work sheet instructions.
• Log client samples into the system and prepare sample labels.
• Conduct basic testing and basic measurements in the field.
• Work from sketches detailed specifications and verbal instructions.
• Calibration and set up of equipment prior to analysis.
• Maintain and record equipment calibrations.
• Carries out routine equipment maintenance under the direction of his/her Supervisor.
• Interpret and evaluate all results.
• Compiles data analyses and prepares reports.
• Maintain a clean working environment.
• Follow all company health safety and environmental policies.
• Follow all quality system protocols and report any discrepancies to the Supervisor.
• May be asked to work in other SGS areas when needed.
• Some independent judgement required.

Qualifications :

• Education:  High School Diploma (or equivalent) - Required
• Post Secondary Education (degree or diploma) in a science related program (Chemistry) - Strong Asset
• Minimum 1-year experience in a related industry - Strong Asset
• Good hand eye coordination when handling samples and various equipment
• Must have a valid drivers license and be comfortable driving frequently to various work site locations.
• Candidate must can use various types of computer software (word excel etc.)
• Demonstrates good verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to work well with others and independently
• Works well under pressure
• Must be able to read understand and follow work instructions in a safe accurate and timely manner.
• Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced highly professional environment.
• Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
• Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.

Additional Information :

Compensation:  $24 to $27 per hour (Full-time Position)
