Field Engineering Intern

AECOM is seeking a Field Engineering Intern to join our construction services team on-site in North Vancouver British Columbia.

This new intern position is expected to start in January 2027. The internship is designed to provide handson practical engineering experience that complements academic learning and supports the transition from student to professional engineer.

This role is well suited for second- or third-year chemical environmental civil electrical mechanical or integrated engineering students who are ready to build handson skills and gain exposure to realworld engineering consulting projects delivered in a multidisciplinary construction site environment.

Responsibilities

• Under the guidance and mentorship of experienced engineers the intern will be responsible for tasks including but not limited to:
• Update and maintain field review tracker.
• Participate in site inspections.
• Support project engineers with AI initiatives; automate processes and workflows using AI Power BI or other tools.
• Coordinate with the engineering team regarding field review outcomes.
• Coordinate with engineers from various disciplines (process mechanical civil electrical structural instrumentation etc.) to support integrated project delivery.
• Participate in internal and external coordination meetings.
• Assist with field investigations site visits and data collection activities to better understand existing facilities and operating conditions.
• Follow quality control processes and contribute to meeting project schedules and deliverable requirements.
• Progressively complete assigned work with increasing independence after initial guidance and review.

This position provides a broad wellrounded learning experience with increasing responsibility as skills and confidence develop.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Chemical Civil Environmental Electrical Mechanical or Integrated Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline with the intent to return to school following the internship unless graduating.
• Completion of at least two (2) years of undergraduate study at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications

• Eagerness to actively learn and build skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Solid foundation in engineering fundamentals.
• Familiarity with engineering and design tools such as AutoCAD Revit Bluebeam or similar software.
• Interest or exposure to modelbased or 3D design coordination workflows.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel and Word.
• Strong timemanagement skills and the ability to prioritize tasks across multiple assignments.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing highquality engineering work.
• Strong written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Interest in pursuing a longterm career in engineering consulting and professional engineering licensure (.)
