About the Role

Premier Project Consultants specializes in the design development and project management of multi-unit residential and commercial buildings across Canada the USA and the Caribbean.

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to support estimating and pre-construction activities across multiple projects with a primary focus on mid-rise and high-rise multi-unit residential construction.

Working closely with Project Executives Project Managers subcontractors suppliers and other project partners the Estimator will develop accurate project estimates and budgets coordinate tendering activities provide value engineering recommendations and support projects as they progress through the design and pre-construction stages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Executives on multiple projects and estimating assignments.
  • Develop project scopes estimates budgets and schedules for assigned projects and tenders.
  • Review drawings and specifications and perform detailed quantity take-offs for self-performed and subcontracted work.
  • Obtain review and evaluate bids from subcontractors suppliers and vendors within required tender deadlines.
  • Prepare tender packages and subtrade bid analyses for review with the Senior Project Manager and project leadership.
  • Develop and maintain General Conditions budgets and pre-construction/build schedules.
  • Provide project-specific value engineering recommendations and pricing to improve cost durability constructability and/or project timelines.
  • Review drawings with management and identify opportunities related to materials building techniques and construction methods.
  • Review change directives and pricing for accuracy completeness and value.
  • Refine and update project budgets as designs and project requirements progress through review stages.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date database of unit and item costs using active and historical project information.
  • Work with the project team to prepare monthly cash flow reports.
  • Coordinate with trades and project teams as required throughout the project.
  • Maintain accurate consistent and well-organized estimating files and documentation.
  • Provide estimating and project support as priorities and requirements evolve.


Requirements
    • 5 years of construction estimating experience with strong experience in multi-unit residential construction.
    • Experience with mid-rise and high-rise residential projects.
    • Direct experience in a Design-Build environment ideally with a developer general contractor or Design-Build organization.
    • North American construction experience with experience in Canada and/or the USA.
    • Strong understanding of construction methods materials sequencing project costs and building techniques.
    • Experience with quantity take-offs subcontractor bid analysis tendering and project budgeting.
    • Strong understanding of value engineering and the ability to identify practical opportunities to improve cost value durability or schedule.
    • Knowledge across the 16 construction divisions is considered an asset.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects priorities and tender deadlines.
    • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements timelines and priorities while remaining calm under pressure.
    • Comfortable working with detailed and repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
    • Experience creating or contributing to project schedules is an asset.
    • Drafting experience is an asset.
    • Previous onsite construction experience is an asset.
    • Post-secondary education in Construction Management Civil Engineering Quantity Surveying or a related field is preferred.
    • Must be available to work in the office Monday to Friday.
    • Ability and willingness to travel when required.
