Simpcw Resources Group is looking for dependable experienced and enthusiastic Equipment Operators to join our Civil Division Team. Reporting to the Straw Boss you will operate a variety of construction equipment and support civil construction activities in a safe productive and efficient manner. This role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and contributing to both equipment operation and general site activities as required.
Work will be performed across multiple project locations including Hinton Jasper Valemount Clearwater and Kamloops. Candidates must be able and willing to travel between these locations as required.
This is a project-term opportunity starting immediately with an anticipated completion date of November 30 2026 or upon completion of the project whichever occurs first.
The schedule for this position is 14 days on and 7 days off with shifts of up to 12 hours per day.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating equipment in a civil construction earthworks road construction site development or related construction environment
- Proven competency operating various pieces of equipment including:
- Skid Steer / Bobcat
- Mini Excavator
- Excavator
- Dozer
- Grader
- Wheel Loader or similar heavy equipment
- Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence with a clean drivers abstract is a must
- Class 1 or Class 3 Drivers Licence considered an asset
- Ability to work a rotational schedule of 14 days on and 7 days off with shifts of up to 12 hours per day
- Must be willing and able to travel throughout the project area including Hinton Jasper Valemount Clearwater and Kamloops
- Experience loading unloading securing and transporting equipment and materials on flat deck trailers is considered a strong asset
- Strong understanding of equipment capabilities limitations maintenance requirements and safe operating procedures
- Ability to conduct daily equipment inspections and identify mechanical concerns
- Good understanding of construction site safety requirements and industry best practices
- WHMIS certification required
- CSTS certification required
- Ground Disturbance Level II certification considered an asset
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and equipment operating skills
- Ability to identify hazards and follow all safety procedures regulations and company policies
- Physically capable of performing manual labour and lifting up to 50 lbs when required
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Willingness to assist with general labour and site support activities when equipment operation is not required
In this role you will:
- Safely operate a variety of construction equipment including skid steers mini excavators excavators dozers graders loaders compaction equipment and other machinery as required
- Perform excavation grading material handling site preparation and other civil construction activities
- Complete assigned work efficiently while meeting project productivity and quality expectations
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment
- Clean service lubricate and maintain equipment in accordance with company procedures
- Identify and report equipment deficiencies maintenance requirements or safety concerns
- Load unload secure and assist in transporting equipment tools and materials
- Operate equipment in accordance with site-specific safety requirements and manufacturer operating guidelines
- Work closely with the Straw Boss and crew members to ensure projects are completed safely efficiently and on schedule
- Participate in toolbox meetings safety meetings and Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs)
- Assist with ground work labour activities and site support duties when equipment operation is not required
- Maintain accurate equipment logs inspection records and related documentation
- Ensure work areas are kept clean organized and safe
- Promote and contribute to a strong safety culture on all project sites
- Perform other duties as assigned
