Environmental Scientist Engineer
Job Summary
We are SLR Consulting (Canada) an 800 team of advisory environmental/engineering and regulatory professionals across 18 office locations in Canada. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of advisory services with over 30 technical environmental and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. As our new Environmental Scientist / Engineer you will play an important role on our Land Quality and Remediation team in Regina.
Role
In this role you will be responsible for executing and leading a variety of field programs related to the assessment monitoring management and remediation of contaminated sites. No two days will be the same as you lead and support different aspects of varied projects at a range of urban and remote sites including upstream midstream and downstream oil and gas facilities commercial and industrial properties and federal and municipal sites.
Your knowledge and experience will be invaluable to our team and will see you involved in the full life cycle of projects as you assist the project manager with budgeting planning coordinating and executing projects as well as data analysis and reviews and reporting. Responsibilities:
- Contributing to a positive team environment and safety by communicating clearly and proactively.
- Participate in all facets of environmental or contaminated site projects including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments remediation and reclamation programs and long-term environmental monitoring of sites.
- Provide project management duties including client communications; proposal development; cost estimating; project planning coordination and execution; managing budgets and completing and overseeing technical reporting among SLRs team members.
- Lead complex fieldwork programs involving sampling and monitoring of soil groundwater soil vapour and surface water as well as environmental drilling monitoring well installations and remediation programs.
- Assist with project coordination logistics and health & safety initiatives.
- Support project scope development cost estimating scheduling and execution.
- Assist liaison with clients and regulatory representatives.
- Effectively mentor junior staff while at the same time being mentored by more senior professionals.
- Maintaining effective open and honest communications with co-workers supervisors and work-related contacts.

Qualifications/Education/Memberships:
- Ideally 7 to 12 years of experience in contaminated site assessment including leading fieldwork programs for Phase I/II environmental site assessments soil groundwater and vapour sampling environmental drilling and remediation programs.
- Knowledge and practical application of health & safety requirements unique to oil and gas facilities construction sites subsurface investigations and contaminated sites. A commitment to safety quality and teamwork is essential.
- Project management experience would be considered an asset.
- Experience with ex situ remediation would be considered a significant asset.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze and solve complex problems.
- Able to work independently in small teams and within larger multidisciplinary teams including ability to work in remote locations and adapt to conditions/resources.
- Passion for fieldwork and available to work away from home occasionally. Occasionally extended hours may be required during field programs.
- Basic knowledge of midstream and downstream oil and gas processes.
- Professional status or eligibility for professional status with a professional organization (. . . E.I.T. G.I.T. . C.E.T. etc.) would be an asset.
- Valid drivers license for travel to job sites/clients.
