Engineering Manager
As Engineering Manager at Fairmont Vancouver Airport you will lead and support the Engineering team alongside the Director of Facilities.
What you will be doing:
- Under guidance of the Director of Facilities responsible to manage the assignment of projects to ensure talent to task within the team
- Acts as ambassador and spokesperson to all vendors and contractors; responds to third-party and contractor concerns in a timely consistent manner
- Responsible for managing the operations including emergency response in the absence of the Director of Facilities
- Proactively scheduling preventative maintenance repairs with contractors and the Engineering team
- Responsible for hotel communication regarding repairs and projects and how it may affect operations
- Contribute to preparation of the annual maintenance budget and capital plan
- Involved in the recruitment training scheduling and performance management processes for the Engineering department
- Proactively builds and manages strong working relationships with other departments contractors and partners
- Contributes and monitors hotel and departmental goals
- Actively participates in and co-chairs the Health and Safety committee
- Promotes the health safety and wellbeing of colleagues and contractors through in-depth knowledge of the hotels crisis and emergency procedures
- Complies with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts policies procedures and code of ethics
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications :
Your experience and skills include:
- Minimum 3 year administrative assistant experience in the hospitality industry and/or in an engineering environment.
- Previous work experience on computers and experience with MS Word Excel Outlook
- Must have strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Must be able to work effectively unsupervised and meet deadlines.
- Strong business communication skills are necessary.
- Team player with strong initiative a calm demeanor and professional approach.
- Previous payroll administration experience would be an asset
- Previous background in an Engineering/trades environment and a strong understanding of the demands of a hotel environment would be an asset.
- A post-secondary education in Hospitality Management would be an asset.
- Knowledgeable in all regulations such as building codes and fire and health department requirements are an asset.
- Experience with purchase orders payroll systems and scheduling employees.
