JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Engineering Manager.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Performance Engineering the Engineering Manager will oversee a department focused on providing systems engineering systems health equipment reliability technical advice and guidance with regards to ECI (Emergency Coolant Injection)/ NPC (Negative Pressure Containment) Systems within the nuclear station/facility.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide technical leadership for ECI/NPC and HVAC systems. Lead engineering oversight for the Emergency Coolant Injection Negative Pressure Containment systems and HVAC systems in a nuclear power plant to ensure safe reliable and compliant performance.
  • Maintain system health reliability and readiness. Monitor system performance identify vulnerabilities manage equipment reliability issues and ensure assigned safety-related systems remain available and fit for service.
  • Protect the design and licensing basis. Ensure ECI/NPC systems remain aligned with approved design basis licensing commitments safety analysis operating limits and configuration management requirements.
  • Lead engineering resolution of complex technical issues. Provide direction on troubleshooting operability assessments apparent cause/root cause evaluations corrective actions and resolution of emergent plant issues.
  • Oversee engineering changes and technical deliverables. Review and approve design modifications technical evaluations calculations specifications procedures and other engineering outputs affecting assigned systems.
  • Support operations maintenance and outage execution. Partner with station organizations to support surveillance testing maintenance planning equipment impairments return-to-service activities and outage readiness/execution.
  • Ensure regulatory quality and procedural compliance. Maintain compliance with applicable nuclear regulations codes standards quality assurance requirements internal procedures and regulator expectations.
  • Lead and develop the ECI/NPC engineering team. Manage priorities coach and develop staff build technical capability and promote nuclear safety culture conservative decision-making and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in engineering (Mechanical Nuclear Electrical Chemical Systems Engineering or another relevant field).
  • Minimum of 4 years of related working experience in nuclear power plant nuclear facility or comparable high-reliability safety-critical industrial environment is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years engineering leadership and people management experience. Proven ability to lead technical teams manage priorities develop staff and deliver engineering results in a complex operating environment.
  • Knowledge of nuclear safety systems including emergency coolant injection emergency core cooling containment systems containment isolation HVAC pumps valves piping instrumentation controls and support systems are a strong asset.
  • Experience resolving complex plant technical issues including demonstrated capability in troubleshooting operability/functionality assessments root cause analysis corrective action development and equipment reliability improvement.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to communicate technical issues clearly influence cross-functional decisions prepare high-quality written products and engage effectively with operations maintenance licensing projects vendors and senior leadership.
  • Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario

The base salary range considers many factors including but not limited to experience education and training including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
