About Island Gold Mine: Alamos Golds Island Gold Mine is one of Canadas highest grade and lowest cost gold mines. With over 550 team members the underground operation is located in northern Ontario just east of the town of Dubreuilville 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Through ongoing exploration success Island Golds Mineral Reserves and Resources have continued to grow in size and quality. This has supported a multi-phase expansion of the operation driving production higher costs lower and strong free cash flow growth. Role Overview/Purpose:
The Technician Mine Operations - Driller will safely operate drills and related equipment while ensuring operational needs are being met in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Operate a variety of drills and related equipment in a safe efficient and environmentally responsible manner.
- Ensure all machinery is safe appropriately document and report any faults or potential hazards.
- Strict adherence to safety in all tasks and interactions including pre-start up start-up and shut-down checks.
- Follow standard operating procedures and monitor all equipment and gauges for irregularities.
- Take appropriate corrective action to prevent any negative impact on the environment or quality and report non-compliance.
Skills Knowledge Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience in a mine or other heavy industry environment.
- Grade 12 education
- Familiarity with drills and previous experience working near earth moving equipment.
- Experience with Sandvik drills preferred DI650i & DR410i.
- A team player with solid communication skills.
- Valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- First aid and other relevant certifications would be an asset.
- Good work ethic and a strong attitude towards safety are essential requirements.
Working Conditions:
- The ideal candidate for the role will work a rotation of 7 days on / 7 days off (12 hour days).
- Pay or shift range: $3672 - $62.51
