Drill Assistant / Labourer

Location: Vancouver Island (Local Candidates Preferred)
Schedule: 4 Weeks On / 2 Weeks Off 12-Hour Shifts
Compensation: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications


About the Role

We are seeking a hardworking and dependable Drill Assistant / Labourer to support geotechnical drilling operations in the field. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on outdoor work thrives in a team environment and is looking to build a career in the drilling industry.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Driller and project team assisting with daily drilling operations equipment handling maintenance and general labour duties. Previous geotechnical drilling experience is considered an asset but we are equally interested in individuals who bring strong work ethic professionalism and valuable life experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously prepare and supply the Driller with tooling and materials required to maintain drilling operations.
  • Handle drill rods casing core tubes and core samples safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with drill rig setup operation maintenance and cleanup.
  • Maintain and organize inventory levels of materials supplies and tooling for drill rigs and support vehicles.
  • Assist the Driller clients and other team members as required.
  • Perform general labour duties in support of field operations.
  • Work safely in remote locations and varying weather conditions.
  • Complete regular and repetitive lifting of 50-90 lbs.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid Class 5 or Class 3 Drivers Licence and a clean driving record.
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to safety and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude reliability and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to work long shifts in remote locations and adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in geotechnical or environmental drilling.
  • Previous field construction labour or heavy equipment experience.
  • Experience operating a skid steer (an asset not required).
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot or repair small equipment.
  • First Aid or other industry-related certifications are considered assets.
