Job Summary
Position:Director Information Technology & Data Management

Reports to:Reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Location:The Lung Health Foundation is based in Toronto and operates in a hybrid model in which staff are required to work at the office a minimum of two days each week with occasional travel within Ontario and across Canada as required.
Salary range:$95000 - $115000

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director Information Technology and Data Management is a strategic and operational leader who translates abstract stakeholder needs and emerging healthcare technology into a 5 to 10-year strategy that can be executed across the organization. The Director Information Technology and Data Management oversees and advances the Lung Health Foundations technology and data environment to meet evolving organizational programmatic and reporting needs.
This position has accountability across two interconnected areas of responsibility:
Information Technology (IT) - Leading LHFs technology infrastructure systems and operational IT needs to ensure secure efficient and scalable platforms that support priorities and day to day operations.
Data Management and Strategy Leading the development and advancement of a new lung health data ecosystem including the long-term vision for a centralized lung health data hub and the structures and partnerships required to support it.
Canada currently faces a gap in comprehensive and accessible lung health data. As part of the Lung Health Foundations 10-year strategy to become a national leader and trusted source for lung health data and research this role will play a key leadership role in shaping and operationalizing the organizations central data hub. This includes establishing the frameworks partnerships and infrastructure required to collect integrate steward and responsibly share health data across research institutes government partners health system organizations and other stakeholders.
As the organization expands its ability to collect and use data from programs partners and audiences this role will lead the development of strong data governance privacy and analytics practices with particular emphasis on the responsible management of health data and the development of secure data and reporting tools that help the organization make informed decisions.
The Director ensures that technology and data practices support the organizations mission cross-functional priorities and longer-term direction. They provide leadership across IT operations data governance privacy analytics and the advancement of the data hub while helping build organizational capacity for data-informed decision-making and stronger stewardship of health data.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Overview of Vendor Relationship (BIT)
The Director IT & Data Management works alongside our managed service provider (BIT) who is responsible for technical onboarding Microsoft 365 setup end-user help desk support device configuration basic hardware troubleshooting and management of LHFs phone system.
While BIT provides day-to-day managed IT services this role provides stratgic leadership and organizational oversight of internal systems data governance cybersecurity practices Salesforce administration IT policies staff training and the long-term development of LHFs technology and data environment including the health data hub.
Data Hub Creation & Data Management
- Lead the development integration and long-term sustainability of LHFs central health data hub including contributing to vendor selection and guiding the design of the infrastructure integrations governance model and operating approach required to support LHFs 10year data strategy.
- Oversee the collection management integration and stewardship of lung health and broader health data from internal programs research institutes health databases government partners and other stakeholders.
- Lead and support the development of data-sharing agreements and related governance processes with research institutes government bodies health system partners and other collaborators in partnership with Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
- Manage organizational data systems including CRMs client databases donor systems and all software platforms used across the organization.
Salesforce Infrastructure Reporting & Integration
- Lead the continued development of the Salesforce infrastructure needed to support teams across the organization including the design system architecture workflow configuration development and ongoing maintenance of dashboards and reporting tools that support planning performance tracking decision-making and impact measurement.
- Oversee Salesforce data mapping structure and integration with other platforms to support accurate and reliable data flow consistent reporting and effective use across teams.
- Partner with internal teams to identify Salesforce needs improve user adoption and strengthen the organizations ability to use Salesforce effectively.
- Ensure Salesforce data integrity through strong governance quality controls documentation and alignment between Salesforce and connected systems.
IT Operations & Infrastructure Management
- Oversee the vendor for the maintenance performance and security of all hardware software networks and cloud services.
- Coordinate with BIT on technical onboarding user account setup device configuration and ongoing IT support needs.
- Maintain internal IT documentation asset tracking and inventory management processes. Manage vendor relationships contracts and service-level agreements for systems supporting IT and data operations (including BIT).
- Ensure reliable secure and cost-effective IT operations including device management telephony and coordination with BITs help desk and systems support.
Technology Leadership & Strategy
- Shape and implement an organization-wide IT and data roadmap aligned with mission program priorities operational requirements and the organizations evolving role as a steward of lung health data.
- Assess emerging technologies and recommend improvements for efficiency service delivery and impact measurement.
- Lead planning for digital transformation major system upgrades and long-term infrastructure needs.
Cybersecurity Privacy & Risk Management
- Oversee IT security protocols disaster recovery and business continuity planning in collaboration with vendor (BIT).
- Ensure LHF compliance with applicable health data privacy requirements including PHIPA as well as relevant nonprofit regulatory obligations.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and lead cybersecurity awareness training across the organization.
- Ensure LHF remains compliant with applicable health data privacy and security requirements including PHIPA through oversight of organizational data governance IT security protocols disaster recovery and business continuity planning in collaboration with BIT.

Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise IT staff consultants and contractors; foster an inclusive service-oriented culture.
- Partner with teams across the organization to improve digital literacy and data fluency.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on technology data cybersecurity privacy and health data management implications for organizational planning and execution.
Budgeting & Resource Management
- Develop and manage the IT and data operations budget.
- Optimize costs through strategic procurement vendor negotiation and lifecycle planning.
- Identify opportunities for IT-related grant funding or donated technology solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science Data Management or related field (Masters degree preferred).
- 8 years of progressive IT data or digital leadership experience preferably in a nonprofit healthcare research or other mission-driven environment.
- Experience establishing and/or managing data systems with strong governance requirements including health data research data CRM platforms donor databases or client service systems; experience working with health databases such as CIHI is considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrated experience with cloud environments cybersecurity frameworks and enterprise applications.
- Knowledge of PHIPA requirements and experience working with data systems and governance practices that support health privacy compliance.
Technical Skills
- Deep expertise in Salesforce administration and architecture configuration and robust business reporting including managing data structures workflows integrations user roles and system scalability.
- Strong knowledge of network administration cloud platforms (Microsoft 365 AWS) and enterprise security practices.
- Proficiency in data management SQL databases analytics tools and data governance frameworks.
- Familiarity with API integrations automation tools and low-code/no-code platforms.
- Experience overseeing vendor-led implementation of systems and data platforms
