Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Digital Architect to lead the design and delivery of modern scalable digital services. This role focuses on building reusable components and shared services that accelerate development across multiple product teams while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and user-centered design principles.
The Digital Architect will work across multiple concurrent projects providing architectural leadership guiding development teams and enabling the delivery of high-quality citizen-focused digital solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Architecture & Design
Lead the design of end-to-end solution architecture for digital services
Develop architectural strategies aligned with agile and user-centered design approaches
Analyze existing systems and define integration strategies
Provide recommendations prototypes and technical feasibility assessments
Identify risks impacts and system dependencies in solution designs
Technical Leadership & Delivery
Guide development teams in implementing scalable and maintainable solutions
Define system boundaries integrations and target-state architecture
Promote reuse of shared services and common platform components
Review code and contribute to development tasks when required
Mentor and coach team members on architecture and best practices
Architecture Strategy & Governance
Contribute to enterprise architectural vision and standards
Develop principles metrics and guidelines for service quality and delivery
Support modernization initiatives and transformation of legacy systems
Ensure alignment with security scalability and performance standards
Collaboration & Communication
Translate technical architecture into clear documentation diagrams and presentations
Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including UX product and engineering
Participate in continuous improvement of architecture practices
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
5 years of experience as a Software or Solution Architect
Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale digital solutions
Strong experience with containerization orchestration and infrastructure-as-code
Experience working in Agile environments with user-centered or human-centered design approaches
Ability to define and communicate architecture for large-scale systems including integrations and cloud-native patterns
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with technologies
Knowledge of secure development practices identity management and Zero Trust Architecture
Experience designing and managing APIs (RESTful services)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines automated testing and deployment strategies
Experience modernizing legacy systems into scalable digital services
Experience with relational and non-relational databases
Exposure to public sector or enterprise architecture frameworks
Work Environment & Requirements
Onsite role in Edmonton Alberta (5 days per week)
Standard business hours Monday through Friday
