Custodian (Part Time, Weekends)
Job Summary
General Description:
Reporting to the Facility & Grounds Supervisor the Custodian supports the WDM in achieving its public trust responsibilities by ensuring the WDM Saskatoons facilities galleries and grounds are maintained to a high standard. The Custodian is responsible for supporting the daily care and cleanliness of the buildings exhibits and grounds.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs routine custodial and cleaning services in all areas including public areas museum galleries and exhibits rental spaces restrooms storage rooms and grounds.
Ensures the safety and integrity of the collection generally and during the handling and cleaning of gallery artifacts.
Properly documents and reports on day-to-day cleaning and maintenance as well as any safety issues.
Attends to urgent clean up situations.
Monitors inventory and requests cleaning supplies and toiletries as needed.
Performs closing opening and closing procedures for the Museum as scheduled.
Plans and prioritizes work in consultation with the Facility and Maintenance Supervisor Exhibits Technician Maintenance Technician and custodial team to complete a range of assignments.
General office and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills:
The position requires a grade 12 or equivalent and pertinent experience in cleaning and janitorial services.
Prior experience working in a museum or gallery is desirable.
A Class 5 Drivers license forklift certification aerial work platform certification or the ability to obtain these certifications is an asset.
Excellent written oral and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
Experience working with or alongside volunteers and the public an asset.
Good computer skills and experience using Office 365 and/or Sitedocs is an asset.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Conditions:
Salary range: $17.06 - $19.78 per hour
Required availability:
o Thursday 12:00pm 8:00pm
o Saturday & Sunday 8:30am 5:00pm
The position works on-site at the WDM Saskatoon.
The successful candidate will be required to provide a criminal record check.
