Job Summary


A Brief Overview

The Coordinator Athlete Services is responsible for the planning coordination implementation and evaluation of a broad range of athlete support services provided to inter-university athletes consistent with developing a culture of sport excellence. This includes the development and implementation of programs and services that support the performance of varsity team student-athletes including; athlete recruitment eligibility registration compliance and monitoring on the Athlete Information Management System (AIMS) Gaels academic support programs and services Athletic Financial Awards student-athlete discipline job placement maintaining student-athlete information and referring student-athletes to broader support services available to students on campus.

The position requires extensive collaboration with Coaches and other members of the Athletics and Recreation (A&R) staff and the broader campus community to ensure the appropriate level of service and support is provided to student athletes. Participating as a member of the high performance unit the incumbent assists in creating a departmental culture that embraces and supports student-athletes coaches and teams in the pursuit of excellence and contributes to the formulation of programs and services that support the holistic needs of student-athletes.

The schedule for this position requires the incumbent to work variable hours on a regular basis including evenings and weekends. This position is subject to the Averaging provisions of the USW Local 2010 Collective Agreement.

Job Description

What you will do

  • Establishes priorities and schedules students acts as a mentor and provides ongoing feedback to students.

  • Builds partnerships and collaborates with departments and with community partners to implement programs and initiatives that support student success.

  • Plans develops and delivers programs training services and events that enrich student life enhance the student experience and facilitate student success.

  • Implements assessment evaluation and reporting processes to continually improve the programs and services offered to students.

  • Assists in developing implementing and evaluating academic success programs.

  • Creates lesson plans and support material for transition programs and camps.

  • Provide guidance to staff with developing and setting up course content including audio video and graphic materials.

  • Creates promotional and educational materials.

  • Coordinates and uploads social messaging and website content.

  • Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.
Required Education
  • Four-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent.
    Required Experience
    • More than 3 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.
      Required Licenses and Certifications
      • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check required.

      • Vulnerable Sector Screening required.

      Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
