Job Summary
Job Description
Reporting to the Nutrition Manager the Cook is responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality meals for residents guests and employees while ensuring compliance with food safety standards and therapeutic diet requirements.
- Prepare and serve meals in accordance with planned menus production sheets and standardized recipes
- Ensure meals are presented attractively and served on schedule
- Follow proper food handling sanitation and safety procedures
- Complete and document daily temperature checks for refrigerators freezers and storage areas
- Prepare foods for therapeutic and specialty diets as required
- Make and document menu substitutions as necessary
- Maintain adherence to production schedules and budget guidelines
- Comply with all regulatory requirements and departmental policies
- Participate in special events theme meals and menu planning activities
- Attend meetings training and in-service education sessions
- Support Resident Rights and contribute to a respectful environment
- Participate in Quality Improvement and health & safety programs
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Food Handlers Certificate (required)
- Red Seal Certification (preferred)
- Experience in large quantity food preparation preferably in healthcare or retirement settings
- Knowledge of therapeutic/specialty diets and food regulations
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move heavy or hot items
- Second language considered an asset
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain)
