Job Summary

Controller - Law Firm

Our client a highly respected Law Firm in Vancouver seeking an experienced Controller to join its finance leadership team. Reporting to the Director of Finance this position plays a key role in financial reporting analysis budgeting forecasting internal controls process improvement and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Reporting
  • Develop financial models and perform detailed analysis to support business decisions.
  • Interpret and communicate financial results and trends to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Analyze profitability cost efficiency financial performance and operational initiatives.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations that support departmental organizational and strategic planning.
  • Provide ad hoc financial reporting and analysis as required.
Financial Leadership
  • Oversee the full accounting cycle including monthly quarterly and annual financial reporting.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements across multiple entities including consolidations.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and quarterly reforecasting activities.
  • Develop monitor and improve internal controls financial policies and procedures.
  • Research accounting tax and compliance matters and provide recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Support ongoing enhancements to financial systems processes and reporting capabilities.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring key performance indicators for accounting and finance functions.
Team Leadership & Operations
  • Lead mentor and develop accounting staff while promoting accuracy accountability and professional growth.
  • Oversee accounts payable accounts receivable collections compliance processes and general accounting functions.
  • Manage workload distribution and ensure completion of departmental objectives.
  • Foster a culture focused on excellence customer service continuous improvement and collaboration.
  • Coordinate with external auditors vendors and internal stakeholders as required.
  • Participate in strategic planning risk management initiatives and operational improvement projects.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation in good standing.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership or managerial experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel Word and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and financial modeling skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
Preferred
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as Elite 3E or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of SQL.
  • Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools.
  • Background in a professional services environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $140000 - $160000
