The centre was founded in 2008 with the intention of empowering culturally and linguistically diverse families in need of ASD organizations mandate is to provide culturally responsive services that encourage lifelong development of children youth and adults with autism; empower caregivers through education training and peer support networks; and increase access through community engagement and knowledge is proud to be able to deliver a combination of free and subsidized programming made possible through strong partnerships across federal provincial and municipal governments along with autism agencies and private Role on Our TeamThe Classroom Facilitator Level 1(CF1) will work within a team to develop and deliver group-based skill-building sessions in the areas of communicationbehaviourmanagement/emotional regulation social/interpersonal skills functional routines and Pre academics to young children with a diagnosisof AutismSpectrum Disorder to support entry to CF1 will consultand collaboratewithothercliniciansand/or clinical teamsworking withthe childto alignlearning goalsand strategies. This position reports to a Program ResponsibilitiesDeveloping and implementingappropriate activitiesfor children designed to help them reach their personal goalsincluding the following:Conduct activities such as singing storytelling actingmodellingplay skills andengaging in play inintakeactivitiesas use ABA teaching strategies such as Reinforcement Verbal and Physical Prompts Shaping Chaining Modelling and assessing individual childrens skills abilities interestsstrengthsand planning including conducting skill-based assessments andcurriculum and implementing activities as per studentbehaviour and teachingappropriate children throughout the dayincluding snack care requirements of the child during each the evaluation of childrens progress toward program rapport with children to support and recordday-to-day the development of Service materials and equipment and a tidy in classroom and full team with other team informed of program concerns and client progress (e.g. flagging exceptional circumstances and need for program change).Develop andmaintainpositive relationships with familiescaregivers partner agencies internal teamsand available informationpertaining toall children in the classroom on a regular the 6-month transitionportionof the program classroom facilitators may be reassigned tosupport withcoverage within other SAAAC to thechanging nature of the job and the job requirements duties and responsibilities may bechangedfrom time to Skills1 to 2years experience working with preschool children working with children with ASDisan current Vulnerable Sector of program planning and case management for children with special needs including knowledge of atypical ofbehaviourmanagement to plan implement and evaluate activities and experiences to meet individual and group needs of all to work effectively in a team environment as well as independentlyConflict resolution Diploma in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university and a member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood EducatorsOR BA in Child Studieswith 1-2 years of relevant experience including working with families school staff and children with special needs.
