We are looking for professional Class 1 Truck Drivers to join us and become part of our Arrow family in Armstrong BC.
As an Arrow driver you will haul wood fibre locally in B-train trailers primarily transporting wood chips as well as sawdust and hog fuel. Your travel will start in Armstrong and use various highways throughout the Interior of BC including Hwy 1 (Coquihalla) Hwy 5 and Hwy 97.
Responsibilities
Oversee cargo handling and secure loads including equipment preparation application of safe practices compliance with applicable Acts and Regulations
Perform pre and post anden route trip inspections on equipmentoperated ensuring safetyroadworthinessand regulatory compliance
Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation load securement drivers hours of service occupational health and safety transportation of dangerous goods and weights and dimensions
Comply with all rules and regulations protocols and established metrics
Efficiently maneuver truck and trailer(s) into loading or unloading positions following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned
May operate loading equipment as per role requirements
Check mobile equipment (i.e. frontend loaders) to ensure that mechanical and safety equipment is in good working order
Report vehicle defects accidents traffic violations or damage to the vehicles to the relevant supervisor
Report all safety hazards or conditions encountered at load unload yard and shop sites
Record Maintain and Check all relevant paperwork (i.e. bill of lading) and documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
Operate equipment such as truck cab computers CB radios and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases supervisors or other drivers
Complete electronic and/or manual logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status following applicable provincial and federal regulations
Communicate effectively and courteously with the public customers and co-workers
Assist in loading and unloading of trucks
Perform periodic inspections before during and after delivery to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure
Ensure that material is properly protected from the outdoor loads may be a requirement
Ensure that any debris caused by the loading/unloading of truck is cleaned up
Provide feedback to supervisor/dispatch regarding customer problems mechanical problems or delivery problems
Ensure that all customers co-workers and the public are dealt with professionally and with respect
Train others when required
You Possess
Valid Class 1 drivers license with air brake endorsement; Btrain experience required
Proven winter and mountain driving experience
Clean drivers abstract and ability to pass preemployment drug test
Strong English communication skills (verbal and written) for safety reporting and coordination
Able to move up to 100 lbs; lift 50 lbs overhead and 75 lbs to shoulder height
Able to sit for extended periods
Computer literate with basic understanding of vehicle and trailer maintenance
Dependable accountable and selfdirected; able to work with minimal supervision
Able to follow direction and crosstrain across facility functions
Organized with strong timemanagement skills
Flexible team player with strong interpersonal skills in a diverse environment
Professional mature demeanor under stress
