The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) a supra municipal body with jurisdiction over the territory located north of the 55th parallel is now looking for a self-motivated and dynamic individual interested in joining the KRG to work in the capacity of:
CIVIL SECURITY TECHNICIAN
(Permanent full-time)
Under the supervision of the Civil Security Coordinator the selected candidate is responsible for:
The selected candidate must meet the following requirements:
Salary Range: Min. $52 481 - Max. $89 256 a year (Class 8)
Other benefits: Cost of living differential: Minimum of $8 500 /year;
Food allowance: Minimum of $1840 /year;
Annual leave trips: Minimum of 3;
Simplified Pension Plan: 625% employer 4% employee;
Group Insurance;
Vacation: 20 days/year;
Statutory Holidays: 20 days including 10 during Christmas holidays.

CIVIL SECURITY TECHNICIAN

Under the supervision of the Civil Security Coordinator the selected candidate is responsible for:
- Providing technical assistance and training in the Northern villages in matters concerning Civil Security including the areas of Fire prevention Firefighting and Emergency measures;
- Technical assistance of specialized equipment including Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Compressed Air Foam Systems (CAFS) and Fire pump Operations;
- Interpretation and implementation of the Nunavik Marine Search and Rescue Stations Administrative and Operational Guidelines intended for the operation of Nunavik Municipal Search and Rescue Boats;
- Review and assist in regular updating of Municipal Emergency preparedness and Search and Rescue planning;
- Facilitate regular exchange and meetings with municipal and regional partners for Municipal Emergency preparedness and Search and Rescue planning;
- Performing all other duties as requested by the Coordinator.
The selected candidate must meet the following requirements:
- Secondary V Diploma relevant work experience will also be considered;
- Certificate of Firefighter 1 from the École Nationale des Pompiers du Québec or in the process of obtaining said certification or willing to enroll in the certification process upon hiring;
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience in fire protection equipment firefighting emergency measures or in another relevant field;
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite;
- Communicate verbally and in writing in at least two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut English or French;
- Autonomy and strong communication skills;
- Availability to travel frequently in the Nunavik region.
