Childcare Assistant-Inclusion Support

Department: Norwest Early Learning and Child Care Centre

Location: 105 Lucas Ave

Position: Childcare Assistant -INCLUSION SUPPORT (Indefinite Term)

Hours: 7am to 9am and 3:30pm-5:00pm full day shift on in-services and Holiday Breaks

Shift: available between 7:00am-5:00pm

Salary: As per CUPE contract

Qualifications:

• Classification as Child Care Assistant
• Strong interpersonal team building and communication skills
• Current first-aid and CPR certification (Level C)
• Good understanding of Manitoba Child Care Programs Regulations
• Must be energetic friendly and enthusiastic
• Must be willing to take initiative
• Experience working with inclusion supports an asset
• Subject to successful criminal record with vulnerable sector search & child abuse registry check.
• Must complete mandatory 40-hour course approved by Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care (within first 6 months of employment)
• Must complete Commit to Kids online training immediately upon hire

Responsibilities

• To ensure the physical care and safety of the children.
• To provide emotional support and nurturing care to children
• To provide children with the opportunity for growth and development
• To follow Centres behaviour management policy
• To maintain confidentiality; follow licensing regulations to know and follow Centre policies and procedures.
• To work with a team of professionals to meet the individual needs of children who require additional supports.
• Communicate regularly with families
• To work directly with children and families who require additional supports
• Other duties as assigned
