The Campus Experience Crew Member (CXC) is the welcoming crew of the Student Association helping create vibrant inclusive and engaging campus spaces. Through student engagement event support space stewardship and student-led initiatives CXC Members foster meaningful connections assist with the delivery of campus events maintain inviting shared spaces and contribute ideas that enhance the overall student experience.
Were looking for energetic approachable students who enjoy connecting with others and creating memorable campus experiences. Successful Crew Members are confident starting conversations hosting activities speaking to groups and using a microphone to engage students. Theyre also team players who arent afraid to roll up their sleeves whether thats moving furniture setting up equipment tidying spaces or helping with the behind-the-scenes work that makes every event and student space welcoming and successful.
Accountabilities
Engagement Welcoming & Hospitality
Welcome students into the Student Centre spaces to ensure a friendly inclusive and inviting atmosphere
Build connections by engaging with students in conversation and promoting opportunities to get involved
Host campus events activities and initiatives helping students feel informed comfortable and included
Connect students with appropriate full-time staff to help answer general questions about services programs and resources
Event Operations
Assist with setup and teardown of events and activities
Move and arrange tables chairs audio-visual equipment signage games décor and event supplies
Ensure that event spaces are safe and organized ready for participants
Support event execution by assisting full-time staff vendors performers and participants
Student Space Activation
Assist the Special Events Assistant in developing student-led activities that encourage students to gather connect and participate
Execute and facilitate the activities with other crew members
Space Stewardship
Support the day-to-day upkeep and cleanliness of the student centre spaces
Tidy areas and reset furniture following peak times of student use
Perform light cleaning tasks such as wiping tables organizing supplies collecting misplaced items and ensure common areas remain welcoming
Report any maintenance safety or cleanliness concerns to full-time staff
Help maintain event equipment storage areas and supplies in an organized and ready-to use environment
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Working Hours: Up to 20 hours per week casual as needed based on the calendar of events activities and student centre requirements
On-site at Fennell Campus occasional travel to other campuses or virtual work may be required
Early morning/Evening/weekend coverage for key events as required
Occasional lifting of materials (up to 50 lbs) including tables chairs boxes and event supplies
Education Experience and Training
Enrolled in a Mohawk College program
Legally eligible to work in Canada
Available to work based on the needs of the department which may include both daytime and evening work based on the calendar of events with advanced notice
Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle is an asset but not mandatory
