Job Summary
Great opportunity for a Building Envelope Lead/Building Science in Vaughan ON
- Act as technical lead and senior peer reviewer on projects
- Oversee technical review of documents from project managers and junior staff
- Conduct investigations and prepare technical reports for parking garages roofing building envelopes and leakage assessments
- Prepare specifications and manage the tendering process
- Procure new projects and clients through business development and proposal efforts
- Attend industry events to increase our firms technical profile
- Develop internal technical practice systems and train junior staff
- Expedite projects from inception through investigation specification and construction stages
- Ensure timely and accurate invoicing monitor receivables and manage project financial health
- Seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and develop lasting relationships
- Manage project risks
- Design scalable façade/envelope systems for buildings including curtain walls cladding and glazing systems
- Oversee manufacturing fabrication and installation of building envelope systems
- Expand product offering for efficiency and sustainability
- Develop and review design documents specifications and assembly drawings
- Update corporate standards and devise innovative approaches
- Collaborate with architects contractors and design professionals for seamless integration
- Use computer modeling and simulation software to optimize building envelope performance
- Research new materials and technologies for innovation
- Provide technical support during all design and assembly phases
- Conduct assessments and site inspections to ensure compliance with building codes
- Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Post-Secondary Education in Engineering or Architectural Technology;
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience as a consultant in building science;
- . designation is preferred but experienced practitioners with other professional designations will be considered;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including technical writing and presentation skills;
- Excellent multi-tasking skills and adaptability to shifting priorities;
- Strong organizational skills;
- A team player approach to problem-solving;
- The successful candidate must possess a valid class G drivers license.
Required Skills:
What Youll Bring: 35 years of direct industry experience in mechanical building services (retrofit experience preferred) Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Building Services or Mechanical Engineering designation in Ontario preferred Strong knowledge of HVAC plumbing and fire protection systems Familiarity with the National Building Code of Canada Ontario Building Code ASHRAE and CSA/ULC standards Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office applications Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate in a team setting Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Highly motivated self-starter with strong attention to detail
