Position Summary and Key Responsibilities

A Bindery Operator (bookbinder) is responsible for setting up and operating industrial bindery equipment to produce quality finished products and will perform the following:

  • Set-up and operate bookbinding equipment related to cutting collating folding stitching and stamping.
  • Adjust machinery to ensure efficient operation and quality finishing is maintained.
  • Review job orders to determine production time and quantities required.
  • Various other duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications :

Mandatory Requirements

  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Fluent in English (speak read write)
  • Able to obtain (in a timely manner) and maintain Government of Canada Secret (Level II) security clearance
  • Ability to perform physical activities associated with the position such as standing walking bending lifting/lowering up to 75lbs
  • Ability to work all shift schedules including days nights evenings and overtime as required
    • High likelihood that this will be a night shift position (3 nights on/4 nights off)
      • 7.5% wage premium for night shift

Candidates must have:

  • 3 years of relevant experience working in a bindery environment.

Equipment and Soft Skills

  • Relevant bindery experience on machines such as:
    • Cutter
    • Saddle Stitcher
    • Perfect Binder
    • Collator
    • Hot Stamper embossing or debossing
  • Additional experience with the following would be beneficial:
    • Foil stamping
    • Laser cutting
    • Lamination
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude
  • Well developed analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
