PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Cyclotron Operator is responsible for the safe operation of ATGs isotope production cyclotrons and target stations. They also participate in maintenance repair activities as well as projects.
All our Operators works a rotating shift schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ATG Cyclotron Operators principal responsibilities are:

  • Safe operation of all accelerators target stations the target transfer system and subsystems in the isotope production facilities
  • Safe operation of the building control system and the nuclear ventilation.
  • Troubleshooting and performing maintenance and repairs of cyclotrons systems and related equipment
  • Performing safety related functions (surveys) as required
  • Keeping thorough and clear documentation as it relates to the operation of the isotope production facility.
  • Taking part in projects to improve the reliability and performance of equipment.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Safety awareness good mechanical and electrical aptitudes.
  • After receiving the formal on-the-job training good technical knowledge of accelerator systems and analytical skills are required for this position.
  • Flexibility to deal with changing priorities and systematic reliable response to critical situations are essential.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are also required.

NUCLEAR ENERGY WORKER:

The incumbent will be required to complete the TRIUMF in-house radiation safety training course and be designated as a TRIUMF Nuclear Energy Worker.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate from a relevant engineering technology program at a technical college in mechanical electrical mechatronics or robotics or a relevant undergraduate degree in related science or engineering discipline.
  • At least one year of experience in operations or a combination of equivalent education and experience with electro-mechanical systems.

Applicants must be legally able to work in Canada on a permanent basis (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).

Compensation:

The position offers a starting salary of $56494.00 per annum complemented by a comprehensive benefits package. The salary for the position will increase to $59925 per annum upon successful completion of a 6-8month training program.
