This is aTerm 12 position with an appointment duration of 2 years.

Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at North Campus Edmonton.

Situated on Treaty Six territory the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta invites applications for a term appointment Assistant or Associate Lecturer - Term 12 in Career and Technology Studies (CTS). CTS is an essential subject area within the teacher education program with an emphasis on relational pedagogy and meaningful connections between technology work and human development. Our future teachers are prepared to support students diverse post-secondary and career pathways. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1 2026.



Responsibilities
  • Teaching undergraduate classes in the Career and Technology Studies and/or other areas of education across the Faculty.
  • Contribution to service within the Faculty University and the broader community.
  • Advising undergraduate students.
  • Leadership in the CTS subject area.


Qualifications
  • Applicants must have completed a Masters or Doctorate degree (preferred Doctorate) in Education with a focus relevant to Career and Technology Studies or a closely related field (e.g. Curriculum and Instruction).
  • Applicants who are close to completion (ABD) of a PhD or EdD will be considered.
  • Successful teaching experience preferably at both the K12 and post-secondary levels with the ability to teach across our undergraduate teacher education (pre-service) program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Contribute to ongoing teacher education program development.
  • Work with post-secondary education institutions to formally transfer two-year diplomas and corresponding credentials to the Bachelor of Education and After
  • Degree in Education CTS Majors or CTS Minor degree programs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in any one or more of the five clusters of Albertas CTS curriculum and pedagogy and CTS and CTF related assessments.
  • Experience with shop lab and classroom maintenance and budgets.
  • Experience with Alberta Education curricula or comparable K12 career and technology education programs.
  • Willingness to collaborate with schools school divisions associations and community partners.
  • Commitment to equity diversity inclusion and decolonization in teaching research and community engagement.
