Job Summary
Our Operations workflow has three major components: First mile - where the product is housed and ready for order; Middle mile - where the order is hauled to your area; and Last mile - when the product is delivered to the customers door. Please note that all workflows have slight building variations but one thing is constant: our vision and dedication to the customer.
Our fulfillment network launches new Operations sites every year providing various opportunities for your professional growth. We hire Area Managers based on location preference and the business current openings.
Key job responsibilities
- Support mentor and motivate your hourly workforce
- Manage safety quality productivity and customer delivery promises
- Collaborate with all support teams including Safety Engineering Loss Prevention Quality Assurance Human Resources to develop plans to meet business objectives
- Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push pull squat bend and reach
- Stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts
- Work in an environment where the noise level varies and can be loud
- Work in an environment that is subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments)
- Continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs)
- Possess a valid drivers license in the state of residence
A day in the life
As an Area Manager II at an Amazon fulfillment center youll act as a strategic leader overseeing upto 80 associates while driving department level operational improvements. Youll conduct planning sessions with your team coaching them through operational challenges while developing their leadership capabilities. On a typical day youll partner cross-functionally with teams such as Quality HR and Safety to implement scalable process improvements that could impact 200 associates across multiple workflows. Youll diagnose root causes of performance gaps using advanced analytics facilitate alignment meetings with senior leadership on department-level goals and make data-driven decisions that balance competing priorities. You would leverage your strategic thinking to review department-wide metrics and plan initiatives that directly impact millions of customer orders while maintaining high levels of engagement safety quality and productivity standards.
- 2 years of employee and performance management experience
- Bachelors degree or equivalent or 2 years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area including weekends nights and/or holidays
- 1 years of performance metrics process improvement or lean techniques experience
- Experience in the management of large teams (50 members)
- Experience with process improvements (Lean Six Sigma and/or Kaizen)
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Operations Supply Chain/Logistics or a related field
- Experience in one or more of the following industries: shipping/logistics distribution centers manufacturing environments hospitality healthcare retail and customer-facing / customer-service environments
- Experience using strong customer service communication and interpersonal skills

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company Amazons package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
