Job Summary

This role supports the Billing Office at Department of Medicine by ensuring accurate efficient and compliant billing operations. Responsibilities include responding to billing inquiries analyzing financial data identifying variances and preparing reports to support decision-making and performance improvement. The position works closely with physicians management and administrative teams to uphold best practices and meet Ministry and UHN standards while maintaining accurate records validating data and supporting training and process improvements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented analytical and able to handle sensitive information with discretion in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Duties

  • Support day-to-day operations of the office to ensure efficiency
  • Respond to billing inquiries with empathy discretion and accuracy
  • Prepare review and provide billing financial support to stakeholders and management analyse variances areas of concern
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of physicians management and administrative staff
  • Provide coverage and backup support to the Billing Office
  • Perform other related administrative duties as assigned.
  • Ensure all work aligns with UHNs quality standards and regulatory requirements
  • Analyze billing performance and results; make suggestions for improvement by setting goals and metrics
  • Train educate end users in billing and ensuring on best practices for billings
  • Ensure billing materials are current and adhered to proper forms of controls and requirements
  • Maintain accurate billing documentation process records and digital asset information.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and other business units to support daily operational activities
  • Compiles and verifies accuracy of billing data to prepare for entry and seeks clarity when incomplete data is submitted
  • Reviews billing data for errors and corrects or flags in a timely manner
  • Stays up-to-date with Ministry guidelines of best billing practices
  • Maintain matter records in departmental and billing system ensuring completeness accuracy and timeliness.
  •  Assist in maintaining comprehensive documentation of matter maintenance processes including guidelines procedures and best billing practices to ensure consistency and facilitate knowledge sharing.
  • Prepare billing reports trend analysis track billing progress by compilation of data
  • Perform other duties as required such as data review data analytics and source data verification

 


Qualifications :

  • Completion of a Bachelors degree or recognized equivalent
  • A certificate in a business administration accounting or related field is considered an asset; however an equivalent combination of education lived experience and professional expertise will also be considered.
  • Experience working in a health care environment as asset
  • Experience with Epic preferred
  • Experience in Microsoft Office environment
  • Previous on-the-job computer/word-processing database and spreadsheet software experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to produce high quality work in accordance with hospital standards
  • Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
  • Knowledge of general office practices procedures and standards
  • Demonstrating strong data analytical investigative and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise judgement to resolve issues.
  • Treating sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and diplomacy at all times.
