The role
Kamloops Airport has openings for the position Airport Technician 2 (APT2). Reporting to the Manager of Facilities and Emergency Services the successful candidates will become part of the airport maintenance and emergency response team working on a rotational shift basis to cover the airports 24/7 operation. This role is a regular full-time union position covered by a Collective Agreement. The hourly rate is $42.74.

Key responsibilities


Performing maintenance functions on facilities and equipment through scheduled inspection to ensure availability of airport services and facilities.
Successfully completing Aircraft Rescue Firefighting Certificate maintain compliance with CARS 303 and 323.
Participating fully in the emergency response program for the airport.
Operating various pieces of mobile equipment including heavy machinery.
Consistently complying with workplace health and safety practices.
Other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the position may be assigned.

About you


Minimum 5 years work experience in an airport operating facilities maintenance or industrial environment.
Having a ticketed trade is advantageous.
Ability to obtain a valid Class 3 drivers permit with airbrake endorsement within 3 months.
Knowledge of and experience with emergency response procedures.
Knowledge and experience with facilities and equipment preventative maintenance practices and procedures.
Knowledge of summer/winter pavement and turf maintenance practices.
Fulfillment of all medical physical ability and other requirements of the APT2 position.
Ability to obtain a restricted radio operators license and airside vehicle operators permit.
Secondary school certificate or equivalent.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Must live within Kamloops City limits.
