Key Responsibilities
As the Account Manager you will play a key role in sourcing purchasing and managing supplier relationships to support the profitable acquisition of quality scrap metal materials across the region.
Procurement & Material Sourcing
- Source and purchase ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal materials from a diverse network of suppliers and partners.
- Collaborate closely with internal operations and procurement teams to ensure purchasing targets and quality standards are consistently achieved.
- Monitor inventory requirements and market conditions to support effective procurement planning and decision-making.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong trust-based relationships with existing suppliers to encourage long-term partnerships and consistent supply channels.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive outreach networking and industry engagement.
- Conduct regular supplier visits to strengthen relationships and assess operational capabilities.
Negotiation & Market Analysis
- Negotiate pricing agreements and purchasing terms that align with company profitability and cost-management objectives.
- Monitor commodity markets and industry trends to support informed pricing strategies and purchasing decisions.
- Maintain awareness of competitive activity and evolving market conditions within the recycling and commodities sectors.
Operational Coordination & Safety
- Work closely with operations teams to ensure material quality consistency and compliance with company standards.
- Promote and reinforce safe work practices during supplier interactions and site visits.
- Support efficient communication between suppliers operations and internal stakeholders to maintain smooth workflow execution.
Strategic Contribution & Regional Travel
- Contribute to the development and execution of procurement strategies that support business growth and operational success.
- Travel throughout the assigned region to meet with suppliers attend site inspections and participate in industry events.
- Provide market feedback and supplier insights to leadership to support ongoing business development initiatives.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role candidates should demonstrate:
Education & Experience
- Previous experience in procurement account management business development or a related field.
- Experience within the recycling manufacturing commodities or industrial sectors is considered a strong asset.
- Proven ability to build and maintain long-term business relationships in a fast-paced environment.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes pricing strategies and market dynamics.
- Ability to analyze market trends and apply insights to purchasing decisions.
