Overview This role is part of a customer and network operations environment within a major distribution system operator. The Technical Account Manager acts as the key interface between the organisation and its professional customers (SMEs and large enterprises) regarding electricity connection requests network usage and future energy needs.
The role combines deep technical expertise in electrical distribution networks with strong customer relationship and commercial management skills. The consultant ensures that customer requirements are correctly understood technically assessed and translated into feasible compliant and efficient network solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Customer Management
Act as primary technical-commercial contact for professional customers
Analyse customer requests related to electricity connections and network usage
Provide expert guidance on electrical network configurations capacity and feasibility
Translate customer needs into internal technical requirements and solutions
Ensure alignment between customer expectations and technical constraints of the network
Electrical Network Expertise
Apply in-depth knowledge of electrical distribution systems components and grid architecture
Assess technical impact of customer consumption patterns and future energy needs
Contribute to discussions on flexibility sustainability and network investments
Understand regulatory market and operational constraints in the energy sector
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
Build and maintain long-term relationships with professional customers
Act as the voice of the organisation towards external stakeholders
Communicate clearly on technical and commercial decisions including limitations and opportunities
Coordinate internally with technical teams planners and market experts
Commercial & Operational Follow-up
Manage and follow up customer portfolios and requests end-to-end
Ensure accurate and structured reporting of commercial activities
Support business case development and economic analysis where needed
Prioritise tasks and manage multiple customer interactions efficiently
Data Tools & Reporting
Use digital tools such as SAP Power BI GIS viewers and internal platforms
Prepare structured reports (qualitative and quantitative) for internal and external use
Support data-driven decision-making for network planning and customer solutions
Profile / Requirements
Minimum 8 years of proven experience in electrical networks or similar energy infrastructure environment
Strong technical expertise in electricity distribution systems and grid components
Higher education degree (Bachelor or Master) or equivalent experience
Strong understanding of energy market dynamics and regulatory framework
Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel Word PowerPoint)
Experience with SAP Power BI GIS tools is an advantage
Experience in commercial follow-up and customer management is required
Ability to develop and present business cases and economic analyses is a plus
Strong analytical structured and solution-oriented mindset
Able to work autonomously and manage priorities effectively
Strong communication and customer-facing skills
Languages
Dutch: CEFR C2 level (mandatory)

Location: Melle Belgium
Work model: Part-time (60%)
Contract type: Time & Material assignment
Duration: 66 working days (renewable up to 6 months)
Hybrid work: Teleworking possible in agreement with manager; occasional travel within Flanders may be required
