Network Security Engineer ABIS Infrastructure Project
We are seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to support a large-scale biometric identification infrastructure project. The role focuses on designing implementing securing and maintaining critical network and security infrastructure used in a high-availability environment operating 24/7.
The project involves the implementation and modernization of an Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) a mission-critical platform responsible for biometric data storage processing and analysis. The solution supports thousands of users and requires a highly secure resilient and scalable infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with established security policies and infrastructure standards.
- Design implement and maintain ABIS-related infrastructure components.
- Deploy and manage F5 BIG-IP and Palo Alto security solutions.
- Monitor infrastructure changes and support project implementation activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related incidents and technical issues.
- Manage and resolve support tickets associated with the project environment.
- Respond to security incidents including cyberattacks network intrusions and malware outbreaks.
- Recommend and implement security measures to protect internal external and internet-facing connections.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure operational stability and security.
- Produce technical documentation reports and operational procedures.
- Strong experience with F5 BIG-IP technologies including:
- LTM (Local Traffic Manager)
- APM (Access Policy Manager)
- ASM/AWAF (Application Security Manager / Advanced Web Application Firewall)
- Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and network security solutions.
- Knowledge of routers stateful packet inspection firewalls and application firewalls.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP HTTP HTTPS SSL/TLS and SNMP protocols.
- Experience with monitoring and log correlation tools such as:
- Splunk
- ELK Stack
- Nessus
- Experience troubleshooting complex network and security environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.

- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and reports.

- Full-time assignment (40 hours per week).
- Hybrid working model with approximately two days per week on-site in Brussels depending on project needs and team agreements.
- Collaboration within a multidisciplinary team composed of internal and external specialists.
- Initial contract until December 2026 with a strong possibility of extension into 2027.
