As a Peer Worker or Mental Health Worker you will support people accessing our services who have a lived experience of mental health challenges to achieve their hopes and dreams. You will play an important part in assisting people to maintain wellness and realise their goals.
The difference between a Mental Health Worker and a Peer Worker at Flourish Australiais that aPeer Worker is required to use their Lived Experience of a mental health challenge and personal recovery openly appropriately and effectively to build professional relationships with the people they are isnota requirement forMental Health Workers to use their lived experience of a mental health challenge in their everyday work.
- Certificate IV or above in a relevant field OR a minimum of 2-years full-time experience working in the human services field (as recognised by Flourish Australia)
- A strong commitment to recovery-based practice in the workplace.
- A personal lived experience of a mental health challenge and recovery.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by people with a lived experience of a mental health challenge.
- Understanding of and ability to effectively use Microsoft Office and knowledge of data information management systems.
- A currentAustralian Drivers Licence.
The headspace Youth Access Clinician delivers integrated person-led health care to support the wellbeing andrecovery of young people their families and the wider community. Working closely and collaboratively withother members of the headspace team headspace Youth Access Clinicians ensure all activities are inaccordance with the operational and business model of the service and directions provided by the Clinical andOperations Manager or delegate and other relevant Youth Access Clinicians are also responsible for ensuring clinical and administrative procedures arefollowed.
headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation supporting young people aged 12-25 years with their mental & general health care needs. At headspace we provide young people with the opportunity to seek help early by bringing local health services under the one roof making it easier for young people and their families to find the information they need.

Essential:
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology Social Work Nursing Occupational Therapy or other allied health discipline recognised by the tertiary mental health services sector.
- Current or provisional registration (or eligibility) with the appropriate professional body (e.g. AHPRA AASW OTA PACFA).
- Demonstrated experience in providing mental health care to young people (and their families/carers) including care coordination mental health assessments risk assessments and crisis intervention and brief interventions.
- Knowledge of recovery focused and family inclusive practice as well as understanding the needs of young people from diverse backgrounds.
- Have a basic understanding and/or knowledge of the concept and impact of mental health issues in the community.
All appointments with Flourish Australias Mental Health Services are subject to an NDIS Worker Screening clearance a National Criminal History Check a WWCC previous employment reference checks satisfactory Australian residency status and other background checks. All successful applicants will be required to declare any private or secondary employment prior to commencement in line with Flourish Australias Private or Secondary Employment Policy.
