About the Role

The Australian School of the Arts (ASTA) at Sheldon College is a state-of-the art program that includes the ASTA Academy Programs and the audition based Professionals Arts Excellence program. These programs cater for students in Preparatory to Year 12 across all facets of Arts Education and has over 1000 students enrolled.

We are seeking an additional Visual Arts Tutor to deliver high-quality weekly co-curricular classes for students in Years 5 to 8. The position will cultivate a respectful and inclusive learning environment where students discover the joy of Visual Art through collaborative and vibrant learning opportunities.

This role includes responsibility for student safety and wellbeing requiring compliance with the Colleges Child Safe Standards policies and procedures and all relevant legislative and duty of care obligations.

This is a term time role. Hours are 3:15pm 5:45pm Monday & Thursday.

About You

  • Minimum 12 months experience working in a relevant field.
  • Sound ability to teach various practical art making skills including (but not limited to) drawing painting (acrylic and watercolour) collage ceramics printmaking sculpture.
  • Diploma of Fine Art Advanced Diploma of Fine Art or Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Art) qualifications or are a practicing artist (desirable)
  • Experience working with school-aged students
  • Commitment to your work and to the achievement of excellence
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Efficient and effective time management skills

Child Safety and Wellbeing

  • Eligibility to hold a Working with Children Blue Card
  • Commitment to upholding child safety duty of care and appropriate professional conduct within a school environment
  • Ability to comply with and uphold the Colleges Child Safety and Wellbeing policies and procedures
  • Completion of mandatory Child Protection and Child Safety and Wellbeing training
  • Responsibility for maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all students
