About The Team
The Animal Hospital delivers comprehensive care for a wide range of complex medical and surgical conditions.
Working with advanced diagnostic modalities including large and small animal CT and MRIs and supported by an on-site laboratory and pathology teams we provide prompt and accurate diagnostics. Our facility features a fully equipped ICU for 24-hour critical care and we collaborate with dermatology surgery medicine pathology equine imaging and anaesthesia teams adopting a multidisciplinary approach for best patient-centred care. You would be joining a team of approximately 100 veterinary nurses and 135 veterinary clinicians and including MITs pathologists animal assistants and administrative support.
Your New Role!
The key purpose of this role is to provide high quality veterinary nursing care to animals in The Animal Hospital At Murdoch University across all departments including Anaesthesia CSSD Medicine Surgery ECC Primary Care and /- Equine. You would be rostered in advance through each of these areas by the coordinator. The working week is Monday to Friday and shift times range between a 7.30am start up to a 6pm finish.
Your key responsibilities will include
Providing all aspects of veterinary nursing care as per the Certificate IV of Veterinary Nursing and the Prescribed Duties of Veterinary Nurses within the Vet Surgeons Act of WA.
Assist clinicians with examinations workups procedures treatments and surgeries.
Communicate with and respond to enquiries from veterinary hospital clients referring veterinarians and general public by various means such as SMS; telephone; email.
Instruct students in correct techniques of practical skills.

This is a Fixed Term (12 Months) Full time (37.5 hours per week) and attracts a remuneration of $74809 plus 17% employer superannuation contributions (with the option to sacrifice 5% of the 17% employer superannuation into your salary).

What youll bring to the role:
- Minimum of 3 years (full time) veterinary nurse experience post qualification in a veterinary hospital
- Experience in small and large animal veterinary nursing care is desirable.
- Excellent organisational time and workload management skills including the ability to prioritise workload to meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent knowledge of diagnostic and surgical equipment as well as sterilising and aseptic techniques.
- Highly effective communication customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with staff at all levels of the organisation.
