This role operates within Westhavens Immediate Transition Model (ITM) designed to support children and young people with complex needs and trauma backgrounds. Through trauma-informed care structured support and daily guidance you will help create a safe stable environment where young people can build confidence and thrive.

Your Impact: A Day in the Life

As a Support Worker no two days are the same. You will provide 24/7 relational and therapeutic support by:

  • Providing a safe nurturing and structured home environment for young people.

  • Supporting daily living skills emotional regulation and personal development.

  • Facilitating community engagement educational support and recreational activities.

  • Note: As children and young people require round-the-clock care 24/7 shift availability (including active night shifts weekends and sleepovers) is required.

Qualifications & Essential Criteria
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Certificate IV in Child Youth and Family Intervention (or relevant qualification) or as per the Residential Care Competency Framework (when implemented) or a Diploma in Community Services (or related field) preferred.

  • Previous experience in residential care youth work or providing direct care to children and young people.

  • Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander applicants: A formal qualification is desirable but relevant experience and a willingness to participate in training is warmly welcomed and accepted.

Essentials:
  • Valid NSW Drivers Licence.

  • Current First Aid & CPR Certification.

  • Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC) & NDIS Worker Screening Check.

  • Willingness to be listed on the Residential Care Workers Register (RCWR).

  • Full working rights in Australia (Westhaven cannot provide visa sponsorship for this role).
