The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Test & Evaluation (T&E) Engineer to support Joint Land Force capability programs based in Canberra or Melbourne.
This role offers the opportunity to play a critical part in the delivery assurance and acceptance of next-generation Land Command Control Communications and Information (C4) capabilities. Working alongside Defence and industry stakeholders you will lead and support T&E activities across the capability lifecycle ensuring systems are verified validated and fit for operational use.
This position is ideal for a T&E professional who enjoys planning and executing complex test programs developing certification evidence and providing independent technical assurance in a challenging Defence environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and support Test & Evaluation activities across Defence capability projects
- Develop T&E strategies plans procedures schedules and reports in accordance with Defence frameworks
- Plan coordinate and conduct Verification & Validation (V&V) activities throughout the capability lifecycle
- Support and deliver Preview Test & Evaluation (PT&E) Acceptance Test & Evaluation (AT&E) Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E) and In-Service testing activities
- Develop and maintain verification evidence including Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRMs) test procedures and certification artefacts
- Identify and manage technical risks issues and deficiencies arising from test activities
- Support system integration acceptance and capability assurance activities
- Engage with Defence stakeholders Capability Managers project teams and industry partners to achieve successful test outcomes
- Provide technical advice aligned with Defence T&E policy engineering governance and certification requirements
- Contribute to test readiness reviews milestone planning and capability acceptance activities
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
- Degree qualification in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 4 years experience in Test & Evaluation Systems Engineering Verification & Validation or Capability Assurance
- Demonstrated experience planning coordinating and executing T&E activities across complex systems
- Strong understanding of Defence T&E methodologies V&V processes and capability acceptance frameworks
- Experience developing T&E documentation including Test Plans Test Procedures Test Reports V&V Plans and Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRMs)
- Experience supporting certification assurance and capability acceptance activities
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary project teams and manage competing priorities
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or progress toward chartership is highly regarded
- Defence Test & Evaluation experience within Land Joint or C4 capability programs
- Experience with tactical communications systems radio networks satellite communications and integrated C4 systems
- Knowledge of Defence capability lifecycle processes engineering governance and certification frameworks
- Experience working within Defence CASG Army Headquarters or complex government environments
