Strategy Development Manager
Job Summary
The opportunity
Downers Energy & Utilities business is seeking a Strategy Development Manager to join Downer on a 12-month contract and play a pivotal role in shaping long-term growth and investment decisions across Australia and New Zealand.
Reporting to the General Manager Strategy this role sits at the heart of the business partnering with senior leaders across Water Energy Networks Telecommunications Power Transmission & Storage and Industrials.
You will provide deep financial commercial and market insight to support M&A activity strategic planning and sector positioning in a complex ASX-listed environment.
This is a high-impact role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with executives influencing decisions and delivering strategic outcomes that directly shape the future of the business.
What youll do
Build financial models valuations and lead due diligence to support M&A and other strategic investments
Collaborate with the business to develop targeted plans for identified high growth or underperforming parts of the business
Analyse market industry and competitor trends to identify growth opportunities and risks
Partner with EGMs GMs and senior leaders to develop sector strategies
Lead the preparation of high-quality executive reports presentations and board papers
Provide economic and sector insights to inform medium and long-term strategic planning

What were looking for
7 years of experience in infrastructure advisory management consulting M&A investment banking or similar
Experience working within the experience working in energy water telecommunications digital infrastructure and/or industrial infrastructure sectors
Strong financial modelling valuation and commercial analysis capability
Ability to translate complex data into clear actionable insights for senior stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A proactive self-driven approach with strong stakeholder engagement skills
