Vineria Luisa is a Chef-Hatted Italian restaurant and wine bar operated by Maestro Hospitality. We are currently seeking an experienced Sommelier / Wine Waiter to join our team.
This position will initially commence on a casual basis with full-time opportunities available for suitable candidates.
Position Overview
The Sommelier / Wine Waiter is responsible for delivering professional wine and beverage service providing food and wine pairing recommendations maintaining beverage standards and contributing to the overall guest experience.
The successful candidate will work closely with venue management and the front-of-house team to ensure consistent service standards in a premium dining environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide professional wine and beverage service to guests
Recommend and execute food and wine pairings
Assist guests with wine selections and beverage recommendations
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the wine list beverage menu and food offerings
Process orders accurately using POS systems
Maintain wine service standards glassware presentation and beverage stations
Support section waiters and other front-of-house team members during service
Assist with stock rotation wine storage and inventory control procedures
Ensure compliance with RSA requirements and company policies
Contribute to achieving venue sales and guest satisfaction objectives
Essential Requirements
Full Australian working rights
Current NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate
Fluent English communication skills
Hospitality Diploma or equivalent
Formal wine studies and/or a minimum of 13 years experience as a Sommelier Wine Waiter or similar role within a restaurant wine bar or hospitality venue
Demonstrated food and wine pairing knowledge
Experience providing wine recommendations and beverage service
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment
Strong attention to detail and professional presentation
Desirable Requirements
WSET Level 2 or higher (or equivalent wine qualification)
Experience working within premium dining or Chef-Hatted venues
Knowledge of Italian wines and regional Italian cuisine
Italian language skills

Full-time salary range: $79000 $85000 per annum plus superannuation
