Solar Turbines is seeking an HSSE Engineer or Senior HSSE Engineer (depending on experience and qualifications) based in Melbourne to cover Australia New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

Role Summary:

This position provides HSSE leadership and technical support for Customer Services Field Operations across Australia New Zealand and Papua New Guinea including overhaul workshop and test cell activities. The role supports HSSE management systems Australian legal and regulatory compliance site HSSE assessments incident investigation and practical risk reduction across field and facility operations.

Scope:

  • Reports to the Regional HSSE Manager Field Operations and works with EHS personnel regional HSSE managers service leaders sales contract support teams and other stakeholders.
  • Supports HSSE performance across field operations the overhaul workshop test cell activities warehouses and related facilities across Australia New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
  • Applies HSSE management system knowledge Australian legal compliance requirements internal HSSE standards and customer or site-specific requirements to support safe and compliant operations.
  • Conducts site HSSE assessments identifies improvement opportunities supports corrective actions and reports environmental data into the enterprise system.
  • Suited to a proactive self-motivated professional who can work independently set priorities engage stakeholders prepare detailed reports and deliver quality HSSE outcomes with limited supervision.

Work Requirements:

  • Able to travel 2550% of the time each month both domestically and internationally.

Accountabilities:

This position supports Customer Services Field Operations HSSE and provides HSSE oversight for overhaul workshop test cell warehouse and related facility activities.

Program Support and Risk Reduction

  • Supports global HSSE program initiatives and local implementation aligned with HSSE management system expectations.
  • Supports field and facility HSSE programs to ensure teams are fit for duty and have the tools guidance and controls needed to reduce risk exposure.
  • Provides HSSE advice and coaching to support strategy operational risk management annual priorities and continuous improvement.

Incident Management and Reporting

  • Leads or supports investigations for SIF/pSIF events major injuries occupational exposures equipment incidents near misses and unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Applies root cause analysis to identify contributing factors develop corrective actions and help prevent recurrence.
  • Prepares clear detailed HSSE reports and communicates significant incidents and investigation outcomes to management and stakeholders.

Compliance Legal and Security Management

  • Maintains awareness of Australian OH&S legislation Codes of Practice Australian Standards and applicable state and territory requirements.
  • Maintains the Occupational Safety and Health Legal Register and identifies issues requiring legal support.
  • Conducts site HSSE assessments security risk and vulnerability assessments field security assessments and supports corrective actions.
  • Maintains field and facility emergency management planning and performs Facility Security Manager responsibilities as defined in enterprise procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in an Environmental Health and Safety-relevant discipline such as Engineering or Science with three to five years of related experience; or M.S. and B.S. degrees in similar disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of HSSE management systems and their application in field workshop test cell warehouse and facility environments.
  • Knowledge of Australian OH&S legislation Codes of Practice Australian Standards and state and territory compliance requirements.
  • Experience with site HSSE assessments incident investigations root cause analysis corrective actions and detailed reporting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interpret technical regulatory requirements.
