As we continue to grow our workforce across the North Coast Branch were establishing a talent pool for ongoing and temporary opportunities within NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service over the next 18 months. About the Branch
North Coast Branchmanages more than 634000 hectares of diverse coastal and hinterland areas (comprising 220 protected areas) and is well known for its idyllic beaches and highly popular campgrounds. Each year over 7 million people enjoy visiting our parks. The Branch comprises ten teams responsible for the management of these parks stretching from Tweed Byron in the North Richmond River Clarence Coffs Coast and Hastings Macleay to the South. These are supported by multiple Program Teams to assist with the delivery of Conservation Fire Visitor Experience Assets Projects Aboriginal Cultural Heritage and Joint Management.

About the Role
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is establishing a talent pool for upcoming Senior Field Supervisor opportunities across the North Coast Branch region. These roles are a great opportunity to combine your practical field experience leadership skills and passion for conservation in a meaningful hands-on role

As a Senior Field Supervisor youll play a hands-on leadership role in planning coordinating and delivering works and maintenance programs that support conservation cultural heritage protection and safe visitor supervise field staff contractors and volunteers; coordinate resources plant and equipment; and help deliver works such as roads fire trails walking tracks signage visitor facilities asset maintenance and conservation-related projects.

The role also supports fire pest animal and weed programs and includes a key leadership role in fire management responsibilities.

About You
Were looking for people who are practical organised and confident leading teams in the field.

Youll bring experience in planning and delivering maintenance or construction programs supervising staff or contractors managing plant and equipment and working safely in outdoor environments.

Youll also be someone who can communicate clearly build strong working relationships manage competing priorities and support a positive team culture. The role requires the ability to work with staff managers contractors volunteers visitors neighbouring landholders Aboriginal communities and other government agencies.

This is a physically active role suited to people who enjoy working outdoors as part of a team and are keen to keep developing the skills and qualifications needed to care for NSWs natural places.

Essential requirements
  • Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent.
  • Obtain a Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) Recovery Certification (Statement of Attainment) within 6 months of commencement as arranged by NPWS with compliant providers.
  • Senior First Aid certificate obtained within 6 months of commencement.
  • Obtain General Construction Induction card (White Card) within 6 months from commencement.
Firefighting requirements
  • Applicants must meet the requirements of a firefighting medical during the recruitment process and 1-3 yearly thereafter which is inclusive of a clearance to undertake frontline firefighting roles.
  • Following commencement in a firefighting role Senior Field Supervisors must pass the task-based physical fitness assessment to a moderate level within their first12 monthsof employment and annually thereafter.
  • Ability to carry out frontline firefighting duties and support roles including ability to obtain and maintain NPWS certification as a crew member or higher within the first12 monthsof their employment.
