About the role
Join newly promoted Mallesons Partner Emma Newnham and be part of the next phase of growth for our market-leading Corporate Governance and Climate & ESG practices. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to work at the forefront of governance climate and regulatory change advising many of Australias leading listed companies and financial institutions. You will work directly with boards legal and governance teams company secretaries and senior executives on complex and evolving issues that sit at the heart of corporate decision-making. Your work could include:

Advising boards and executives on corporate governance matters

Supporting organisations through mandatory climate reporting requirements

Advising on ESG governance frameworks disclosure obligations and greenwashing

Assisting clients with shareholder engagement and stakeholder issues

Advising on Financial Accountability Regime implementation and consequence management

Supporting governance aspects of M&A transactions and strategic corporate initiatives

Monitoring and advising on emerging regulatory and policy developments affecting listed and private companies

Advising clients on equity plan set up and ongoing administration

You will have:

At least 5 years PQE gained in a leading corporate governance regulatory or ESG practice

Strong technical drafting and analytical skills

A genuine interest in climate sustainability governance and/or regulatory reform

The confidence to engage directly with senior client stakeholders

A curiosity and openness to exploring how AI can help us do our jobs better

A collaborative approach and strong commercial judgment

Enthusiasm to be involved in business development initiatives
