What does it take to reset and lead a modern security engineering function Step into a role where you dont just maintain securityyou challenge it rethink it and rebuild it for whats next. As part of our Security and Engineering team youll lead a nationally distributed team and drive the uplift of core security capabilities across cloud and enterprise environments.

How youll be part of the action

Reporting to the Head of Security Operations and Engineering youll lead a team of six engineers across Australia balancing strong people leadership with hands-on technical delivery. Youll take ownership of both business-as-usual operations and strategic uplift bringing structure challenging the status quo and execute a clear plan to integrate security engineering across Tabcorp.

• Lead and rebuild a national team of security engineers across multiple locations
• Balance resource allocation across BAU support incident response and project delivery
• Design and implement security baselines across cloud and enterprise environments
• Oversee security tooling including endpoint protection privileged access and firewalls
• Act as senior escalation point supporting incident response and on-call requirements
• Drive automation consistency and continuous improvement across engineering workflows

What youll need to succeed

Youre a hands-on security leader who brings equal strength in people leadership and technical depth. Youre comfortable stepping into a team challenging existing approaches and delivering a clear structured plan to lift capability and maturity. You know how to balance operational delivery with long-term improvement and bring others with you along the way.

• Proven experience leading and developing security engineering teams
• Strong hands-on capability across security engineering tools and platforms
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing security baselines and controls
• Deep experience across endpoint protection privileged access firewalls and cloud-native controls
• Proven ability to manage distributed teams and balance BAU with project delivery
• Confident in challenging existing ways of working and executing practical improvements
