The School Assistant supports teachers students and administrative staff in the daily operations of the school. This role involvesassistingwith classroom activities supervising students preparing materials and ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
- Assist teachers with classroom management and instructional support.
- Supervise students during class recess lunch arrival and dismissal times.
- Support students with special needs or learning difficulties under the guidance of teaching staff.
- Prepare and organize learning materials and classroom resources.
- Help maintain a clean safe and orderly classroom environment.
- Provide administrative support such as photocopying filing and data entry.
- Escort students to and from different areas of the school.
- Monitor student behaviour and report concerns to appropriate staff.
- Support school events field trips and extracurricular activities.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Communication skills Clear and effective interaction with students staff and parents.
- Classroom support skills Assisting with lesson preparation student engagement and behaviour management.
- Organisational skills Managing materials schedules and tasks efficiently.
- Basic IT skills Using school systems email and educational software.
- First aid knowledge Often desirable or required especially for playground or excursion supervision.
- Conflict resolution Helping to manage minor disputes or behavioural issues calmly.

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional certifications or training).
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- A valid Working with Children Check.
- Provide lunch & playground cover and assist with pick up and drop off duties.
- A willingness to attend school events outside regular hours as required (e.g. performances parent-teacher interviews etc.).
