Following the successful completion of a major six-month safety improvement program this large-scale civil earthworks project has transitioned into a stable operational phase. We are now seeking an experienced Safety Superintendent to help maintain momentum and continue driving a proactive safety culture across the project.

Operating within an active mining environment this project involves a substantial fleet of civil earthmoving equipment and a workforce of approximately 125 personnel per crew. Reporting to the WHS Manager you will provide day-to-day leadership across health safety and training functions while supporting operational leaders to deliver safe and productive outcomes.
This role is ideally suited to a hands-on safety leader who enjoys being visible in the field building relationships with supervisors and crews and partnering with operations to continually improve safety performance.
Your Role
Reporting to the WHS Manager you will be responsible for supporting the ongoing delivery of health safety and training outcomes across the project.
You will provide leadership and direction to a small site-based safety team comprising a Senior WHS Advisor and WHS Advisor with the potential for an additional administration resource as the project continues to evolve.
Key responsibilities include:
Support the WHS Manager in implementing and maintaining project health safety and training systems.
Provide day-to-day leadership mentoring and development to the site safety team.
Partner closely with Project Managers Superintendents Supervisors and operational crews to promote a strong safety culture.
Maintain a highly visible field presence across work fronts and mobile plant operations.
Drive the implementation and continual improvement of proactive safety programs and critical risk management initiatives.
Monitor safety performance leading indicators and compliance activities identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
Conduct field leadership interactions inspections audits and verification activities.
Facilitate and participate in ICAM investigations and support the implementation of corrective actions.
Assist with the development review and implementation of HSEQ Management Plans procedures and standards.
Ensure compliance with legislative requirements company systems and client expectations.
Support contractor management processes and verification of critical controls.
Deliver toolbox talks safety briefings and targeted training programs.
Prepare reports safety statistics and project performance information for site leadership and corporate stakeholders.
Build strong working relationships across all levels of the project through practical and collaborative safety leadership.
About You
Experience
Demonstrated experience in a Safety Superintendent Senior Safety Advisor or similar leadership role within mining civil construction earthworks or heavy industry.
Experience supporting large mobile plant operations and high-risk construction activities.
Strong understanding of contractor-based project environments and operational safety management.
Proven ability to coach frontline leaders and positively influence workforce behaviours.
Experience working on mine sites and within mining safety management systems will be highly regarded.
Qualifications
Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety as a minimum.
Diploma or tertiary qualifications in WHS highly regarded.
ICAM Lead Investigator training or equivalent desirable.
Current unrestricted drivers licence.
Roster & Location
8 days on 6 days off roster.
Residential candidates from NSW are encouraged to apply.
