The Financial Crime Surveillance (FCS) team is part of Westpacs Risk Division and is responsible for detecting deterring and fighting financial crime.
Whats the role
As a Risk Analyst within Westpacs Financial Crime Surveillance team you will play a key role in safeguarding our customers communities and organisation from financial crime. Working as part of the first line of defence you will identify assess and manage risks relating to AML sanctions and customer due diligence while investigating cases supporting stakeholders and delivering strong risk and compliance outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Review and assess AML sanctions and customer due diligence activities applying a risk-based approach.
- Investigate alerts cases and customer events to determine appropriate actions and outcomes.
- Manage customer and stakeholder interactions including sensitive and complex conversations.
- Manage customer calls in line with Westpacs customer-centric approach delivering positive customer outcomes.
- Support customer offboarding account restrictions and other risk mitigation activities.
- Adhere to effective controls across all financial regulatory and compliance requirements and processes.
- Identify and escalate potential financial regulatory and compliance risks to the business and the Westpac Group.
- Identify emerging risks trends and opportunities for process improvement.
- Partner closely with internal stakeholders to ensure regulatory obligations are met and positive customer outcomes are achieved.
Training and Support
Well set you up for success with a comprehensive 7-week New Starter Framework including:
- Face-to-face training in the office with your team manager on hand for guidance and support.
- Full systems learning and accreditation so youre confident and ready to hit the ground running.
- After training youll move to a hybrid work model 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home each week.
What do I need
Youll be someone who enjoys solving problems assessing risk and delivering great outcomes for customers and stakeholders.
You will also bring:
- Experience in financial services operations compliance risk or financial crime.
- Proven ability to navigate across multiple complex systems and technical environments
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Confidence managing customer conversations and stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to make sound decisions while balancing customer risk and regulatory considerations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exposure to AML KYC sanctions fraud compliance or related disciplines will be highly regarded.
