About the role

Australian Naval Infrastructure Pty Ltd (ANI) is the owner developer and manager of the Osborne Naval Shipyards supporting the Commonwealths Naval Shipbuilding Plan. ANI is responsible designing constructing and managing the shipyard infrastructure including the new Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard (NPSCY) to support the AUKUS program and operating and maintaining common use facilities.

The Project Director plays a pivotal leadership role driving the successful delivery of high-impact programs and projects that shape organisational outcomes. Youll bring strategic direction oversee end-to-end delivery and ensure projects are delivered on time within budget and to a high standard.

Working closely with senior stakeholders youll influence decisions manage risks and lead high-performing teams all while ensuring outcomes align with broader business goals. This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact lead complex initiatives and drive meaningful results.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop programs of works to meet ANI objectives liaising with project team members and the corporate team on relevant tasks.
  • Plan design and deliver a range of projects ensuring the deliverable objectives and constraints of safety time cost and quality are achieved; effectively managing reporting on and escalating issues to ensure timelines are met.
  • Administer design consultancies and construction contracts to ensure construction and industry standards are maintained and comply with relevant legislation and organisational policies and procedures; promoting collaborative and solutions-based interactions across contractor and trade counterparties.
  • Represent the organisation in a professional manner provide reliable and timely advice and act with integrity to ensure project progression.
  • Lead direct and develop a multidisciplinary team of direct and indirect reports to ensure project outcomes are achieved; ensuring standards are set and maintained across the group supporting development and mentoring programs to build sector capacity and capability.
  • Develop strong relationships and work collaboratively across client internal and external networks to achieve sustainable outcomes.
  • Manage negotiations with a strong grasp of the key issues including relevant stakeholders and input as necessary.
  • Lead and manage project delivery cost reviews and program reviews and provide regular and ad hoc reports including coordination of contractor input against agreed and established baselines.

About you:

You must be an Australian citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain Defence security clearance and hold qualifications in Engineering Project Management or Construction Management.

Youll bring proven experience delivering major projects with strong knowledge of design and construction alongside advanced project management capability. This includes contract and contractor management as well as working across tendering and procurement processes.

Youre an experienced leader who has successfully managed large or complex programs leading multidisciplinary teams and balancing multiple priorities to deliver on time and to a high standard.

A confident communicator you can clearly present ideas influence stakeholders and manage negotiations or disputes effectively building strong relationships across teams and communities.

Youll also bring a collaborative professional approach and be comfortable using systems such as Office 365 MS Project or P6.
