Project Accountant

The opportunity

Downer is seeking a commercially astute Project Accountant to partner with project and operational teams across a growing Energy & Utilities portfolio. This role is critical in delivering accurate reporting strong financial control and improved project outcomes.

What youll do

• Business partner with Project Managers to deliver financial outcomes and project performance insights
• Manage month-end reporting forecasting and budgeting cycles
• Ensure accurate WIP billing cost and revenue tracking
• Provide variance analysis profitability insights and EAC forecasting
  Monitor and enforce financial controls Governance & Delegations of Authority
• Support cash flow management and working capital optimisation
• Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and performance analysis
• Drive continuous improvement across financial processes and reporting

What were looking for

• Tertiary level qualification in Accounting Finance or Commerce (CA/CPA highly regarded)
• Experience in project accounting within construction utilities or infrastructure
• Strong understanding of contract environments and project financials
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (SAP JDE or similar)
• Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to influence project teams
• Ability to manage tight deadlines in fast-paced project environments
